The Ponoka Drop-In Centre

Our centre provides recreational and social activities for seniors in Ponoka and area. The facility opened in 1986, and underwent a significant upgrade and renovation in 2012. All of our activities are overseen by volunteers. The overall operation of the centre is governed by a dedicated group of board members.

 

New members are welcomed!

 

Rooms within the facility:

  • Auditorium – seating tables and space for approximately 100 persons
  • Kitchen – adjacent to the auditorium
  • Card Room – tables and seating for approximately 50 persons
  • Billiard/Pool Room
  • Art Room
  • Craft Room
  • TV and Computer Lounge

Announcements

 The Drop In Centre Board met in Monday, March  14 and it was unanimously decided that as of today, the Drop In Centre will no longer be checking for proof of vaccination and will move to being a mask optoinal facilty.   Mask wearing is strongly encouraged but we ask people to assess their own comfort level.

 

GOSPEL MUSIC NIGHT IS BACK!!  Join  "joyful Meloday" for an evening of Southern Gospel on Friday, July 22 at 7:00pm.   if you have questions, please call Gail at 403 783 2450. 

 

 

Many thanks to Dorothy Houghton who has handled rentals for the Drop In Centre for 13 years.  She has been a dedicated member, serving as president for 3 terms, memorial board for 7 years and assistand secretary for 4 years.  She is ready to hand on the job of Rental Coordinator.  Many thanks, Dorothy.

 

Effective June 30, 2022, the Drop In Centre needs a Facility Rental Coordinator.  This is a key position because the rentals make up 75-80% of the Drop In annual revenue..  In addition to the regular activities, the Drop In Centre provides a venue for events that align with our rental policy.  The Drop In Rental Policy has been rivised amd is available on the web page.  Duties of the Rental Coordinator include meeting with potential renters, completing the rental contract, distribute the keys, post event inspectionand collect the keys.  Dorothy Houghton will provide transition training.  Please consider this opportunity to contribute to the Drop In Centre.
